Ashley Sklar

Ashley Sklar is the Adult Services and Community Engagement Consultant with the Connecticut State Library Division of Library Development. In this role, Ashley collaborates on All CT Reads, CT Pages, Growing Equitable Library Services (GELS), Libraries Without Borders, and other strategic initiatives and partnerships. She also works closely on DLD’s communications strategies including the website, emails, media relations, and social media platforms. Ashley previously worked at the New Haven Free Public Library where she oversaw adult services, communications and marketing, and collaborated with partners across the greater New Haven community. Ashley holds an MLIS from Drexel University, an MA in art history from the University of Connecticut, and a BA from Skidmore College.

Kym Powe

Kym Powe (she/her) is the Children and Young Adult Consultant with the Connecticut State Library. Kym specializes in youth services and literary equity and has presented at various conferences including, the American Library Association Annual Conference, the Connected Learning Summit, Niche Academy, Webjunction and she has spoken for multiple School Library Journal/ Library Journal professional development courses. 


In 2023 Kym was named a Library Journal Mover and Shaker in the education category.

Matt Geeza

Matt is the Director of the CT State Library's CT Library for Accessible Books and Middletown Library Service Center. Matt's area of focus is Accessibility and Accessible Library Services.  In recent years, Matt has presented at the Public Library Association's Annual Conference, at the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled's National Conference, and at the Connecticut Library Association's Annual Conference.

Beth Burgess

Beth Burgess is the Collections Curator at the Connecticut State Library's Museum of Connecticut History. Beth is responsible for overall collections management, description and care. A cultural heritage practitioner and preservationist, she strives to bring hidden histories to light while advocating for modern approaches and challenging norms. Beth has presented for the New England Museum Association, Connecticut League of Museums, and looks forward to presenting at the American Association for State & Local History and National Council for Public History's joint conference this September.

Brad Bullis

Brad Bullis is the Digital Content and Innovation Coordinator at the Connecticut State Library, Division of Library Development. He oversees the eGO CT, researchIT CT, and other programs including working with public libraries to deliver services to veterans and their families. He previously worked at the New Haven Free Public Library for 20 years, most recently as the Library Business and Infrastructure Administrator. Brad also served in the Connecticut Air National Guard for 34 years. He retired from military service in 2015.

Jennifer DiCola Matos

Jennifer DiCola Matos has served as the Administrator at the Museum of Connecticut History at the Connecticut State Library since 2023.  She has over 20 years of experience in the Greater Hartford Area’s cultural institutions including serving as Executive Director of the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society from 2014-2023. Ms. Matos has a B.A. in History and Art History from the University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford, CT and a M.A. in American Civilization from Brown University, Providence, RI.

Kevin Johnson

Kevin Johnson is an employee of the State Library’s History and Genealogy Unit, and he has been portraying Jordan Freeman for about 17 years. He also has portrayed Private William Webb, a soldier in the Civil War, for 26 years and has delivered over 600 presentations.

Kirsten Cappy

Kirsten Cappy is the Executive Director of I'm Your Neighbor Books. The nonprofit cultivates welcoming behaviors and builds a sense of belonging in communities by increasing access to and engagement with Immigrant and New Generation children’s literature. The nonprofit's Welcoming Library project received an American School Library Association commendation for creating a "culture of welcoming and belonging" in US schools. Additionally, Kirsten was named a Boston Globe Everyday Hero for the founding of the project.

Kristen Bellantuono

Cheers!  My name is Kristen Bellantuono.  I am the No Child Left Inside® Coordinator and Sky’s the Limit Hiking Challenge Coordinator within the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, State Parks and Public Outreach and Education Division.


Since the fall of 2017, I have had the honor of working in the State Parks Division here at CT DEEP.  I am responsible for two specific programs and am the sole Coordinator for each:  No Child Left Inside® Program and the  Sky’s the Limit Hiking Challenge Program.


I earned my Bachelor of Art Degree from the University of Rhode Island (URI) in Marine Affairs.
